Registration and Information

MEDIA POLICIES
These policies are in place to protect the privacy and the persons of the underage athletes involved in the Cowichan 2008 North American Indigenous Games.Media Criteria
Applications for accreditation will be reviewed by the Cowichan 2008 North American Indigenous Games Society and successful applicants will be notified by email and provided with further information as it becomes available. All applications are subject to confirmation. Please be advised that registration forms sent without supporting documents and information will not be reviewed or approved. Application criteria:- Media employed by news organizations attending the Games for the purpose of editorial coverage will be granted media credentials.
- Media are required to submit appropriate media credentials as part of their registration application, including a photocopy or scan of official press credentials and a letter of assignment from the media organization being represented. Business cards or membership cards from news media, communications, or writers’ organizations are not sufficient to establish eligibility.
- Independent television production companies are required to provide a letter outlining the confirmed broadcast plans for their work.
- Freelance media are required to submit an official letter of assignment from a news organization or magazine.
- Online media must submit similar documentation verifying the intended use of the content collected from the Games.
Media Program
Accredited media are invited to all official News Briefings. Media are also welcome to attend all venues and to photograph all events, including the Opening and Closing Ceremonies, all Games competition and all events at the Cultural Village and on the Main Stage. Media will NOT be permitted near any school accommodation venue at any time. Accredited media will be afforded access to selected areas at some events and access to interviews with primary Games participants.Media Centre
The Cowichan 2008 North American Indigenous Games will operate a Media Centre during the Games. Located at the Quw’utsun Cultural and Conference Centre at 200 Cowichan Way, Duncan, BC, the Media Centre will have working spaces with wireless internet connection, phone, access to printer, photocopier and fax. The Media Centre will operate daily from 9:00am to 10:00pm, August 1 to August 10, 2008. Updated Games information will be available for the Media at the Media Centre. Media accreditation badges will be available for pick up at the Media Centre as of August 1, 2008.Broadcast Truck Parking
Live broadcast truck parking requires prior authorization by the Cowichan 2008 North American Indigenous Games Society. Requests for authorization may be directed to the Communications Manager at 250-746-2008 prior to the Games. Broadcast vehicles requiring electrical service or external cabling must apply for a limited-use parking pass two weeks in advance.Important Security and Conduct Information
For security reasons, Cowichan 2008 North American Indigenous Games Media badges will be required at all events; badges must be worn and visible at all times. Lost badges should be reported to the Media Centre staff immediately. The following badge policies will be in effect throughout the Games:- Cowichan 2008 North American Indigenous Games Press badge is the sole property of the Cowichan 2008 North American Indigenous Games Society.
- Badges are non-transferable.
- False certification of individuals as media representatives, misuse of badges, or any inappropriate or unauthorized conduct will be just cause for repossessing badges of any individuals involved, and expelling all parties involved from the Games.
Media Accreditation Terms and Conditions
By registering for media accreditation for the Cowichan 2008 North American Indigenous Games, you hereby acknowledge and agree to the following terms and conditions of accreditation, and that the information provided is a true representation of the individual registered.Your application will be reviewed, and if approved you will be granted accreditation and a media badge that grants access to approved venues during the Games. The Terms and Conditions are an agreement between the Host Society and the accredited person, and agree to the following:
In consideration of the Cowichan 2008 North American Indigenous Society (the Host Society) accepting my registration and allowing me to participate in the 2008 North American Indigenous Games (the Games), I, for myself, my heirs, executors, administrators and assigns:
- Release the Host Society, its volunteers, servants, agents, employees and other participants of the Games from any and all claims, actions, costs, demands and expenses arising out of or in consequence of any loss, injury or damage to my person or personal property incurred while attending or participating in the Games, notwithstanding that any such loss, injury or damage may result from the negligence of the Society, its volunteers, servants, agents, employees or other participants of the Games.
- Grant to the Host Society the right to use, without payment of any fee, charge, or compensation of any kind, including royalties, any and all written information and/or any and all photographs, video tape or other visual media of myself taken during the Games for non-commercial purposes, and I also agree to waive any right to approve such use.
- Understand that the rules and regulations are designed for the safety and protection of participants and herby agree to abide by the rules and regulations set by the Host Society.
